Career Highlights

Many great sprinters have competed along Mt. SAC's famed 100m straight-away, but only one, Mike Marsh, emerged triumphant a meet-record seven times. Remarkably, only one of his seven wins was run in a time slower than 10.00.

Mike didn't limit himself just to individual events. He frequently joined his Santa Monica Track Club teammates in relay efforts, notching six wins on 4X100m teams, and a World Record running leadoff for a 1994 4X200m team.

Although he considered himself a 100m man, he won a 1992 Olympic gold medal in his "other" event, the 200m. Mike also earned a gold medal as a member of that year's 4X100m relay team, and a silver medal as part of 1996's 4X100m relay team.

Mike was ranked in the top ten in the U.S. at 100 meters eleven years in a row from 1987 through 1997 and also six times in a row in the 200 meters from 1991 through 1996.

Mike knows the Mt. SAC track well. He got an early start as a star at nearby Hawthorne High School, and went on to a great career at UCLA, where he was a key contributor to Bruin NCAA title teams in 1987 and 1988. He graduated from UCLA in 1989.

In addition to being a great athlete, Mike is a great person and ambassador for the sport. In a decade where many of the world's leading sprinters turned up the volume on themselves, Mike quietly went about his business of becoming one of the best sprinters of his generation. He is a fantastic addition to the Mt. SAC Hall of Fame.
