Coleen Sommer

Inducted to Hall of Fame: 1996

Coleen won four Mt. SAC Relays high jump titles. Her meet record of 6-4, set in 1988, stood for seven years.

As a student at Arizona State, she captured two national collegiate (AIAW) championships. In 1982, she raised the American record by 1/2 inch, clearing 6-6. She also had a superior indoor mark that same year, jumping 6-6 3/4.

In addition to a pair of U.S. national championship, Coleen also claimed two Pan-Am titles. She missed the 1984 Olympic year while on maternity leave, but did return to win a spot on the 1988 Olympic team.
