In Memoriam ...

LARRY McMILLAN

(Walnut, CA)  It is with great sadness that the Mt. SAC Relays announces the passing of longtime supporter Larry McMillan.  A true gentleman, Larry served the Mt. SAC Relays for over 50 years, including his service as the Relays Committee Chairman.  Larry and his wife Bea also volunteered countless hours serving the youth of Southern California with the LA84 Foundation Mt. SAC Relays Youth Days Program for 30 years.

Larry shaped the sports world by developing programs supporting Olympic hopefuls.  As Vice President of Personnel at General Dynamics in Pomona, he created opportunities for future Olympians by giving them career opportunities that allowed them to continue their Olympic dreams.  His support was instrumental in the success of numerous athletes including legendary long jumper, Olympic Bronze Medalist and World Champion, Larry Myricks.

After a long battle with Lymphoa, Larry passed away at his home on July 16th at the age of 85.  His legacy with the Mt. SAC Relays will continue through his and his wife’s generous contributions to the proposed Heritage Hall Educational Center Project.

Services for Larry will be held at St. Denis Catholic Church in Diamond Bar, on Thursday, July 26th, at 10:00 am.  A reception will immediately follow at the Diamond Bar Golf Course.
