(WALNUT, CA)The Mt. SAC Relays announces the selection of Mr. Ed Luna as the 2010 and 2011 Mt. SAC Relays Games Committee Chairperson.  Luna will lead this group of community volunteers who tirelessly aid in the operation of the “world famous” Mt. SAC Relays. 

Luna has been involved with the Mt. SAC Relays for many decades.  His association and support of the Relays began as an high school athlete participant and continues today as a coach.  Luna is one of the outstanding high school and collegiate track and field coaches in the nation.  For the past 2 years, he has served on and become an integral part of the Mt. SAC Relays Games Committee.   

Luna brings a wealth of knowledge to this position, having directed a number of outstanding events himself over his successful coaching career.  His experience, organizational skills and ability to work harmoniously with other members of the Mt. SAC Relays Games Committee makes him an outstanding selection.

SAC Relays Director, Doug Todd.  “I have known Ed for many years and I am aware of the incredible work he has done in the track and field world.  For the past 10 years, through the LA84 Foundation’s Coaching Education program, I have had the opportunity to work with Ed and I look forward to working with him in his new role.  The Games Committee is important to the success of the Relays .  With Ed leading this fantastic group of community volunteers, great things will happen!”

The 2010 Mt. SAC Relays will be held on April 15th, 16th and 17th, at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the Mt. San Antonio College Campus.  Each year the Mt. SAC Relays hosts over 12,000 athletes, making it the “world’s largest” track and field competition.  The event draws athletes, media and fans from throughout the world, bringing millions of dollars into the local economy.
