DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE...

This year’s traditional running of the world famous Mt. SAC Relays will mark the 56th year in a row that the very best athletes in track and field will once again gather in Walnut. Excitement is higher than ever this year because of the renewed interest in the sport generated by this summer’s Olympic Games.  We look forward to watching our current crop of Olympians up close and personal in Mt. SAC’s own Hilmer Lodge stadium this year.

You can expect to see a collection of the very best athletes at all levels as well as a preview of a number of emerging elite athletes. Expect the consistently performance favorable weather continues to be a factor in so many of our University teams achieving qualifying and season’s best marks.  And please don’t forget the prep portion of the Mt. SAC Relays that continues to be a place where State and Nation leading marks are set on a regular basis.  Add to that the excitement of the country’s top Community College performance meet each year and our annual LA84 / Mt. SAC Relays Youth Days event where 7,000 3rd through 8th graders take part and you can see why Mt. SAC Relays continue to be such a special event and a favorite destination for so many.

Each and every year the track and field staff at Mt. SAC, the college and our scores of faithful and dedicated volunteers look forward to hosting all of you!  Our goal and our promise is to treat you with respect, fairness and friendliness. Throughout your Mt. SAC Relays experience, from beginning to end, we will afford you the time and attention needed to answer any questions or resolve any issues that you may have.
Like our good friends at Southwest Airlines say at the end of every flight, “We know you have other options and so we thank you for flying with us.”  That same sentiment holds true for us, we too know that you have many options and so we thank you for choosing us.

Mt. SAC is a wonderful meet. It’s full of tradition and history.  We work diligently each year to continue that tradition but it’s only you, the coaches and athletes and your participation that can continue to add to the significant history that make the Mt. SAC Relays such a special place.

Thank you for taking part.  On behalf of meet management, the college and our volunteers, we wish you the very best of luck.
